Heavy Equipment Armor was founded by the owner of Advanced Forest Equipment, who engineered the first disc mulcher for skid steers. Being a mulching contractor for over 36 years, safety has always been a priority. That’s why he started designing custom and bolt-on guarding to protect his operators and machines. Too often injuries happen because a machine isn’t equipped to protect the operator for the job, he/she is asked to do. Because of this we have designed several different pieces of enhanced guarding that simply bolt to a machine to help prevent costly injuries and equipment down time. All these pieces are designed with a core principle of safety, function, fit and finish. Our product offerings include guarding for both Caterpillar hydraulic excavators and skid steers as well as Kubota and Bobcat current model skid steers.
At Heavy Equipment Armor we create enhanced custom and bolt-on guarding for skid steers and excavators. We manufacture steel guarding, UL752 Level 1 rated ballistic guarding, bolt on custom guarding, running boards, light kits, box guards, top guards and rock guards. When it comes to protecting you and your machine, we have you covered!
What type of products do we offer for skid steers or excavators?
At Heavy Equipment Armor we are happy to offer a few different solutions for your machine, whether you have a skid steer, small excavator or large excavator we have you protected. Below you will see a list of options for both skid steer and excavator.
HEA guarding products are designed to work with the original factory components wherever possible. This includes utilizing factory bolting locations to install additional guarding enhancements. Plus, we believe that your guarding should look as good as it works! We build every piece to complement its new carrier with a fit and finish that looks factory.
Bobcat skid steers and compact track loaders are in every job site, and most of these machines have a tempered glass door. One bucket load of rock away from being blown out. Putting a quality HEA Defender ballistic door on your machine will save you costly down time and possible injuries. Plus, you don’t lose your window wiper!
Kubota is one of the fastest growing skid steer and compact track loader brands in the world. With these machines going to work in some of the harshest environments you now can add a layer of protection for the operator that never existed before! We developed a hinged ballistic door ballistic door built exclusively for the SVL95-2 machines! Our Cab Guard with integrated cooler not only protects the operator it protects the cooler as well.
Heavy Equipment Armor’s enhanced products add another safety protection level for the operator and the machine. A company’s most valuable asset is protected – It’s people. This, in turn, reduces injuries which reduce business costs and disturbance. Heavy Equipment Armor’s safety feature also improves work quality. Insurance claims fall in safe workplace environments with Heavy Equipment Armor’s enhanced guarding. Contact us to learn more about the types of guarding we offer for excavators & skid steers.
36 years in the forestry industry has taught us that anything can happen, even to the most experienced operators. We know the perils and the dangers out in the field we’ve been there! It only takes one saw chain shot, tree branch, or rock to ruin your day or worse your life.
Heavy Equipment Armor products are designed to complement and enhance each model of machine. Our products are not universal but are built to bolt onto factory specific locations across different models of machines. This allows for the best potential fit while ensuring that the machine remains stock with no welding or drilling that would decertify the cab.
Heavy Equipment Armor polycarbonate products are made of UL752 Level 1 rated polycarbonate that can withstand a ballistic attack. Our polycarbonates are not milled or drilled out like most in the market. While some companies offer impact rated windows/doors they have been milled or drilled to fit hinges and handles. Doing this can leave the polycarbonate susceptible to micro-fractures.
The main difference between standard polycarbonate and a ballistic polycarbonate is the rating process that ballistic polycarbonate undergoes. Ballistic rated polycarbonate must be able to withstand a ballistic attack as tested at Underwriters Laboratories. If the testing is successful, the product can be labeled as a UL certified product.
All Heavy Equipment Armor brands guarding is designed to work with the OEM safety escape features when installed correctly.
All the skid steer guarding and all bolt on guarding for excavators.
Any custom work for excavators, since some of work must be welded on, we need the machine at our fabrication shop in-order to fabricate and install properly.
In most cases our lead time is approx. 3-5 business days from order. Custom guarding can be hard to put a lead time on because of the type and amount of work to be done.
Every machine on an active job site should have some type of additional guarding to protect the operator and the equipment, but the addition of a steel screen may literally be the difference between life and death of an operator. Invest in heavy equipment protection and keep your operators safe. Call us to learn more about the guarding options we offer.
